Around 1pm, as my partner and I were watching some strange bio-doc about vampires, a message pops up in gtalk from a guildie, "Did you know [GM]'s account was hacked? The guild is gone."
Oh haaaaaayle naw.
To read the long version, go here. Basically, I logged on to find ourselves guildless, without a GM, and everything in our bank gone.
A few people who had seen it happen were quick on the ball in getting a temporary guild for us to hold together. Once we had about 20 people, the 'real' magic started to happen..
Within 20 minutes we had the temporary bank with a second tab, and both tabs full. People were using the herbs within to make flasks and pulling all the health/mana pots out to make injectors, just so we'd have more space. Flasks, food, oil, pots, even cauldrons - everything we'd just lost out of our fully tabbed out monstrosity of a bank was replaced as swiftly as possible.
Once the initial bank sorting rush was over, we sort of.. went back to business as usual. Some went to ZA, others went to their planned SSC farm. All the while still catching stray members as they logged on to get them informed and into our temporary hold.
At no point did anyone say 'well that sucks, we can't do this anymore'. No one lost their head, even though it was tempting as we watched the hacker's mule run around Stormwind advertising void crystals made from DE'ing our GM's gear.
Pledges have often commented on how 'sane' or 'calm' we are compared to other guilds, so I feel really silly feeling surprised this all came down the way it did, but I am. I'm rather impressed this whole effort happened without a peep from an officer either (they were either working w/ Blizzard or didn't know due to RL, or were the hack-ee). All of this was member driven.
As of today, we're prepared to go back to BT right on schedule. A full day of nothin' but Illidan! Though we haven't made it past P2 in previous attempts, I have a slight hunch that most of us are still pissed off enough that we'll see some amazing progress tonight.. or dare I say, a kill.
(Never underestimate the power of twenty-five angry people, I say.)

The noobage on the parasites was partially due to me not being on parasite duty on our first attempt. There's a first time for everything! At least I only wiped us on Council once. :D
You better kill him..
Actually I can't really say much.. I had to miss our first illidan kill due to computer issues. Once phase 2 is out of the way, progress comes in leaps and bounds. Provided everyone meshes well. But from your history killing bosses, I don't see any reason for him to still be up by the end of the week.
@Libby: I didn't even say a word about parasites. :P
That was actually during a Shear wipe, I kept watching to see how high the list could get anyways.
@K: While we WERE overly ambitious our firetanks still haven't learnt the dance. Which is ok, seeing as last night was the first night we'd spend more then 10 minutes on it. I can see them figuring it out this week though. I'm excited to see what comes after that. :D
PS Dark Barrage can DIAF
Well jive.. Dark Barrage does suck.. horribly. But also.. if you are lucky like I have been.. when setting up the nature's swiftness rotations.. I always put myself last so the shammies had to do all the work. I don't think we've ever needed more than 3.. maybe 4 on our first few attempts. Not sure on your set up.. but you can easily pass on the sucky work to someone else :p
PS Dark Barrage isn't as bad as when someone pulls aggro or the tank turns illidan the wrong way and he heals a bajillion health.. 1% to 20% = lose.
Ha! I'll have to remember that. But last night we only had me and a shaman. The first time we saw Dark Barrage we both thought it was easysauce because we both hit NS unknowingly. The next time we failed. :P
Jive, I am SO sorry about your guild bank and GL, but it is simply awesome that the members pulled together the way they did. I'd say you have a very strong guild to do that the way you did.
Certainly an example to remember if such a horrible event befalls any of the rest of us. I am cheering you on in BT!
Thanks, Kayeri! We're trying as best we can. :) Soon we'll be getting our name unfrozen by Blizzard, and that makes me very happy!
